Pre-workout Stretches at DFiT

As you embark on your fitness journey with us, make sure you have the drive to really push yourself and set your mind in getting into shape. And before each work out it is vital to condition your body improve your flexibility and reduce the risk of injury.

In order for you to get ready before that challenging yet satisfying workout, our professional Fitness Instructor Jeffrey and Yoga Master Ganesh will teach you a couple of pre-workout stretches to maximize your everyday fitness sessions at DFiT!

  • Stand straight and separate your feet should length.
  • Raise your head up, eyes looking straight to the ceiling.
  • Place your palms together and position the tip of your fingers under the chin while the thumbs should be resting in between your collarbone.
  • Hold and breathe for 15 to 30 seconds.
  • Note: You may also put your hands together and place them at the back of your head stretching downwards.

  • Stand straight and separate your feet should length.
  • Bring one arm across the front of the body.
  • Use the opposite forearm to grab the elbow and pull the other arm across the body until you feel a stretch in the shoulder.
  • Hold and breathe for 15 to 30 seconds.
  • Repeat on the other side.

  • Stand straight and spread the legs two feet apart.
  • Touch the right hand to the floor in front of the left foot while left arm is pointing back.
  • Switch sides and continue this alternate motion with long breaths.
  • On the inhale, rise up completely; on the exhale touch the toe.
  • Repeat 25 times on each side.

  • Stand straight and put your feet together.
  • Lift your leg up, as if touching your heel to your butt and grab your foot.
  • Lift the opposite arm shoulder level.
  • Stretch your thigh muscle as far as you can.
  • Hold and breathe for 15 to 30 seconds.
  • Repeat on the other side.
  • Note: If you’re losing balance you may place your other hand on the wall or ask for your instructor’s shoulder for support.

  • Stand straight and put your feet together and place your hands on your hips.
  • Carefully kneel with one knee on the floor and the other foot in front with the knee bent.
  • Push your hips forwards and keep the back upright.
  • Hold and breathe for 15 to 30 seconds.
  • Repeat on the other side.
